A focused study on the perception of the city constructed by 17th perspective engravings of Rome was the subject of a Rome Prize research project. A series of analytical drawings demonstrate how these perspectives distort and condition our understanding of the city of Rome. Corollaries were drawn between the manipulations in Falda's drawings and the works of contemporary artists on the perception of cities through photography. The research methodology developed proved to be very effective in revealing latent information hidden within the techniques of architectural production.
