The project begins as an abandoned construction site for a vacation apartment complex in Aruba. The client decided to take on the challenge of finishing the project. The building is a concrete tunnel construction typology. We helped the client redesign the building into a hotel including interior design of all common areas and suites. Furthermore, energy efficient Air Conditioning systems, LED lighting, light and occupancy sensors and low water consuming bathroom fixtures as part of efforts to register Acqua as the first LEED certified building in Aruba.

The project also includes a clubhouse with a gym, spa, business center, pool terrace, boutique stores, restaurant and bar. Landscaping of all exterior areas is predicated on indigenous species, and irrigation uses treated sewage water. Programed areas define exterior spaces such as the pavilion for yoga, an outdoor café with seating areas, jacuzzi, pool area and beach volleyball courts.
