Los Pinos is a community located in La Vega in the Libertador Municipality of western Caracas. Through the Activism Laboratory of the Victim Assistance Network, a project led by the NGO Caracas Mi Convive, a group of youth interested in rescuing a public space and converting it into a place that could serve as a playground for children, were identified. Before this initiative, the only place neighbors could gather or where children could play was in the nearby community of La Hoyada.

Caracas Mi Convive and Enlace Fundación worked together with community leaders and designed a plausible project for the site, which had once been used by neighbors to dispose of waste and community leaders identified it as “the hot corner.” The community carried out a day of intense cleaning before the project started. The design includes concrete stands that serve as a viewpoint, meeting space and outdoor cinema. A pre-existing wall was also repaired and the slope was leveled so that the children had a larger and safer space to play.
