Elisa Silva is selected among the 33 Sally and Don Lucas Artists Fellows of the Montalvo Arts Center in California, in recognition of her work focused on raising awareness of spatial inequality and efforts to integrate barrios into broader urban dynamics through public space interventions. She will pursue research on the formal characteristics of exisitng public space in the barrio La Palomera.

The Montalvo Arts Center announced its most recent Lucas Artists Fellowship awards, on September 18, 2019. 33 artists from the US and the world were selected for the 2019-2022 cohort. The announcement commented that: “This distinguished group includes individuals from 16 countries working in the fields of visual arts, architecture, urbanism, and design. This includes visual arts media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, film, design, and printmaking, as well as artists working in the fields of performance, social practice, and sound art. These Fellows were born or reside in the following countries: the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, Mexico, India, South Africa, Argentina, South Korea, Spain, Bangladesh, Guatemala, Taiwan, the Philippines, ltaly, Venezuela, and England.”
