Interview with Elisa Silva published by Rotary International France

The monthly letter from the Governor of Rotary International District 1700 Occitanie - Pays Catalan – Andorre featured an interview with Elisa Silva conducted by Marie-Francoise Chapuis, and Rotary Montpellier Maguelone President Carlos Davis in February 2023. University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture Wallenberg Symposium 2023 reflects on the role of mentorship to increase equity in architecture

This year´s Wallenberg Symposium at the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture focused on equity in architectural education through mentorship. Elisa Silva, in representation of FIU, was among the invited panelists together with Andrew Chin of Florida A&M University, Edmund Akima Brackeen from IIT, Bradford Grant of Howard University, Coleman Jordan from Morgan State University, Stephanie Pilat from the University of Oklahoma and Carmina Sánchez at Hampton University among others. It took place at the Ann Arbor campus on January 30, 2023.

Exhibition “ON PAPER” by Leon Marcial, Rozana Montiel and Enlace Arquitectura at the Washington Gallery FIU MBUS of Art Basel Miami 2022

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022, as part of Art Basel Miami, the “ON PAPER” exhibition will be inaugurated by the architecture studios León Marcial, Rozana Montiel Arquitecture Studio and Enlace Arquitectura. The content focuses on the art of exhibiting architecture, specifically in the recent exhibitions of the Venice Biennale 2021 and in the Biennale of Architecture and Landscape in Versailles France 2022.

Puro Espacio selected in the Publications category of the XII Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism

This year the XII Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism 2022 was held in Mexico City together with the event Mextropolis, an initiative by Arquine Magazine. The publications jury, comprised of Ana Vergés, Ana Martínez, Guillen Augé and Raúl Cárdenas, Ana María Álvarez, Ethel Baraona and Florencia Rodríguez, selected the book Pure Space to be included in this edition.

The lecture "Architecture to defend diversity in cities" was part of the annual meeting of the Association of Architects and Engineers in Ciudad Juárez, which took place on September 21, 2022. The presentation featured the work of Enlace in La Palomera Caracas, the Guaire River of Caracas and the community of Agua del Espino in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.

Book presentation of Pure Space at the Universidad Autónoma Ciudad Juárez

Elisa Silva presents the publication Pure Space: transformations of public space in spontaneous settlements in Latin America in the classrooms of the Department of Architecture of the Ciudad Juárez Autonomous University on September 20, 2022, together with professors Héctor Rivero Peña and Cecilia Hernández Fonseca. The lecture was part of the "Architecture and Emerging Contexts" program of the Master of Architecture.

Lecture at Rotary Club Montpellier France, Elisa Silva

On September 15, 2022, Elisa presents the work of Enlace Arquitectura in the barrio La Palomera and the Guaire River in Caracas Venezuela and in the Central Valleys of Mexico at the Rotary Club in Montpellier that 29 years ago received her as an exchange student in 1993 -1994, revealing how that experience sparked an interest in art and architecture that came to define her profession.

Enlace Arquitectura and Ciudad Laboratorio present the exhibition “Microprocesses: choreography of urban integration” as part of the exhibition “Commun: une architecture avec les habitants” at Arc en Rêve Center d'Architecture, Bordeaux, France, from June 23 to September 18, 2022. The exhibition brings together the works of the 2021Chicago Architecture Biennale presented at the Graham Foundation and the content of the French Pavilion at the 2021 Biennale di Venezia. The selection presents examples of design of spaces with the active participation of their inhabitants.

La Iglesia de Media Legua by Enlace Arquitectura among the 38 outstanding projects of the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize

We are pleased to share the news that the San Juan María Vianney Church in Media Legua, Vargas State Venezuela by Enlace Arquitectura, was selected by the jury of the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize in Chicago among the 38 “Outstanding projects” from 400 nominations of works built in the Americas between January 2018 and December 2021. The jury is chaired by Sandra Barclay from Peru, and also includes Mónica Bertolino from Argentina and Alejandro Echeverri from Colombia, among others. The award seeks to recognize architecture that not only serves as a static monument but also has a positive impact on its specific context.

La Palomera exhibited at Biennale meets ROMA in Burgau, Germany.

On Thursday, May 12, the exhibition "Biennale Meets ROMA" was inaugurated in Burgau, Germany, in the exhibition spaces of the firm ROMA. This represents the second time the gardens and public spaces of La Palomera can be viewed by the public, along with pieces by Patti Anahory, Michael Malzan, and Jesse Reiser. Enlace Arquitectura’s installation focuses on the spatial and cultural richness that already exists in the barrio. It both celebrates and acknowledges what constitutes a fundamental part of the city, where more than half of caraqueños live.

Exhibition at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex in Miami on South Florida´s vulnerable neighborhoods - by Elisa Silva's students at FIU

The exhibit features maps of 6 vulnerable neighborhoods in South Florida that are the result of student research and conversations with neighbors. They show the simultaneous superposition of buildings in three times: 1. Those of the past that have been demolished, 2. Those of the present, and 3. Future projects aimed at a public of greater economic affluence and different from the current population.
