Elisa Silva has been selected as one of 100 women leaders acknowledged this Saturday, March 11 at 7:00 pm at La Concha Acústica de Bello Monte.

This year´s Wallenberg Symposium at the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture focused on equity in architectural education through mentorship. Elisa Silva, in representation of FIU, was among the invited panelists together with Andrew Chin of Florida A&M University, Edmund Akima Brackeen from IIT, Bradford Grant of Howard University, Coleman Jordan from Morgan State University, Stephanie Pilat from the University of Oklahoma and Carmina Sánchez at Hampton University among others. It took place at the Ann Arbor campus on January 30, 2023. 

The Rosario Argentina Institute of Architects brings together the architectural offices León Marcial from Peru, Enlace Arquitectura from Venezuela and the curator of the Argentina Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Biennale Gerardo Caballero. The discussion takes place on Thursday, September 30, 2021. The event is moderated by the architect Paola Gallino and published via zoom and youtube streaming.

The Advisory Council of the City of Barquisimeto CCCB presents a virtual discussion moderated by Architect Franco Micucci September 27 and 28, 2021, focused on rethinking and reflecting on the city post-covid in terms of new forms of connectivity and urban mobility. Elisa Silva along with architects Luciano Landaeta, Julia King, Jorge Pérez, Lorenzo González Casas and David Gouverneur participate in the discussion.

Lecture by Elisa Silva within the framework of the Expedition '21 studio of the Institute of Architecture in Porto Portugal, whose focus this year is “Critical neighborhoods: Architecture and appropriation in Bairro do Leal." The workshop seeks to present a set of regeneration strategies in the precarious territory of Bairro do Leal, in Porto, demonstrating the capacity of architecture to improve the living conditions of inhabitants. Elisa's contribution was based on the experiences in the barrio La Palomera in Caracas Venezuela.

In observance of the Week of the Architect 2021, Maria Virginia Millán is invited to present a lecture by the National Coordination of Architecture Students of the Rafael Urdaneta University, where she presented “Access to the Complete City: Transformations of public space and recognition of the city." María Virginia shared part Enlace Arquitectura's work promoting the right to the city and the integration of barrios, creating links with the community and their recognition as part of the city.

Invited by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru, Elisa shares her reflections on the publication "Pure Space: Expanding the public sphere through public space transformations in Latin American spontaneous settlements", on Friday April 16, 2021 via zoom, together with architects Gary Leggett and Sharif Kahatt.

On March 23, 2021 Elisa Silva is one of the panelists in the Latinx event Spring '21 Roundtable Series, an inter-university collaboration initiative by NOMAS of the Yale School of Architecture.

Elisa Silva presents the lecture “Ordinary Acknowledgement” at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Design at the University of Toronto, where she reflects on community participation strategies and the formulation of an inclusive approach to design through the work of Enlace Arquitectura in the barrio La Palomera in Caracas Venezuela. Part of this work will be exhibited at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition Biennale di Venezia 2021.

The Department of Architecture of Florida International University FIU organized the discussion panel “Social Urbanism” on Tuesday, October 13. It focused on the challenges and opportunities of urban planning in spontaneous settlements of Latin America, specifically in Colombia and Venezuela.

Technologically complex building systems presented in the guise of innovation by the "developed" world's industry are certainly admired in the Global South. And yet in spite of the aspirational tendency to copy and appropriate all things new that come from the "north", the brick (or block) continues to be the most suitable and frequent way for people and communities to build in Latin America. 

The exhibition includes the work, experiences and lessons of the Integration process Caracas program that began in the informal settlement La Palomera in November 2018. Its objective has been to invite all citizens to get to know La Palomera through its culture, its sancochos (a Venezuelan stew), its spaces and its people. Audiences are also invited to question the negative stigma that exist with respect to the barrio and to see it with a renewed gaze, so that it may be discovered, understood and recognized as a living and vital place for the city.

Today, October 3, 2019, Fospuca began a door-to-door waste collection program in La Palomera, Baruta, employing people from the community with the institutional support of the City of Baruta and the social accompaniment of Enlace Foundation. The initiative provides barrio inhabitants with a better-quality service and will eliminate the presence of containers in the entrances of the informal settlement. It represents a pilot project that will be replicated in other sectors of the municipality such as El Placer de María, Ojo de Agua, Las Minas, Santa Cruz and Hoyo de la Puerta.

Elisa Silva is selected among the 33 Sally and Don Lucas Artists Fellows of the Montalvo Arts Center in California, in recognition of her work focused on raising awareness of spatial inequality and efforts to integrate barrios into broader urban dynamics through public space interventions. She will pursue research on the formal characteristics of exisitng public space in the barrio La Palomera.

Community leaders together with the Integration Process Caracas held the Third Gathering of the series "Art, pedagogy and city," on Sunday, March 24, 2019. It was titled “Complete city, overflowing city” inviting people to participate, observe, understand and record spaces, while touring the barrio La Palomera in Baruta.

"Integration Process Caracas" promotes the recognition of the entire city by blurring borders, overstepping boundaries and generating opportunities for gatherings where we can experience integration.

We invite artists, creators and city lovers to participate in a co-creation experience with the community of La Palomera, Baruta. We are looking for people interested in working through a constant exchange with La Palomera´s neighbors to create interventions that manifest reflections on integration through art.

On November 17 we kicked off the "Integration Process Caracas" program with the first talk of the lecture series "Art, Pedagogy and the City". The lecture entitled "Strategies for Integration" brought together a diverse group of speakers who addressed issues related to urban integration such as the real and symbolic merging of the city and the distinction between "formal" and "informal" cities. The meeting took place in the La Palomera´s basketball court where Natalya Critchley, Cheo Carvajal, Elisa Silva, Sergio Dos Santos, Martina Arteaga and José González told us about integration experiences related to art, pedagogy, urban design and local experiences. The lecture was attended by neighbors from the community of La Palomera and other parts of the city. At the end of the presentations everyone participated in a workshop experience led by Katiuska Camargo, who invited them to dream as children and imagine transformations for the community. This initiative is part of the United States Embassy in Venezuela´s cultural program.

Elisa Silva, currently Design Critic in Landscape Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design presents a lecture as part of the Landscape Department Fall 2018 lecture series titled “Territorial Inequality and the Urban Cassandras of our time” on October 29, 2018 at 1.00pm in Gund Hall Stubbins 112.

During the fall 2018 semester, Elisa will be teaching an option studio titled “The Agency of Mezcal in the Oaxaca Valley of Mexico” at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. The studio addresses the environmental, social and economic aspects that surround the growing opportunities for mezcal production in the Oaxaca Valley. Findings could serve as a thoughtful inquiry to guide the potential agency of mezcal in the region with viable holistic strategies. 

The publication “Downward Spiral: El Helicoide´s descent from Mall to Prison” edited by Celeste Olalquiaga and Lisa Blackmore will be presented at the bookstore Lugar Comun in Altamira Caracas, on Friday the 13th of July 2018. The event will be presided by Vicente Lecuna with the participation of several of the book´s collaborators including Elisa Silva.

Elisa Silva participates in dialogues about identity at the XX Architecture and Urban Design Biennial in Chile, curated by architect Pola Mora. The conversation included Ana María Durán (Ecuador), Inés Moisset (Argentina), Cazú Zegers (Chile) and Sandra Iturriaga (Chile) October 27, 2017 at the Parque Cultural in Valparaiso.

Elisa Silva was invited to participate in the conversation series "Against Violence: debates to open the political field" together with Doris Barreto Fe y Alegria Community Center coordinator and Leandro Buzón of Caracas Mi Convive at Lugar Comun Paseo Las Mercedes September 28th 2017 at 5:00 pm. She spoke of Enlace Arquitectura´s work on the publication "CABA Cartographyof the Caracas Barrios", Pro-Inclusión with CAF and the program "City Planting" sponsored by Citibank Venezuela and coordinated by Fudep Venezuela. 

Among the projects included in thepublication "Radical - 50 Latin American Architectures" by Arquine publishers, is the Sabana Grande Boulevard Pavement by Enlace Arquitectura 2011. The book was presented Friday March 10, 2017 during the Mextropolis event in Mexico City.

Enlace Arquitectura was invited to participate in the project "Antimano - Catholic University Andres Bello - Live Cartography" with the exhibition "CABA Cartography of the Caracas barrios 1966-2014". The exhibition is open to the public during the month of March 2017 in the Experimental Hall of the Catholic University Andres Bello Cultural Center and includes a series of municipal maps and a large scale satellite map of Caracas (12.0 x 5.5 meters) at 1:5,000 scale, that shows the slum areas. Slums account for 4,470 hectares and the equivalent of 24% of the entire urban territory. 1.449.055 inhabitants live there, which is 45% of the Caracas population.

The Board of Directors of the Simón Bolívar University Association of Professors awarded the Andrés Bello Award for Research and Publication in Social Sciences to "CABA Cartography of the Caracas Barrios 1966-2014" and the professors Elisa Silva, Henry Vicente, Lorenzo González Casas and Orlando Marín. The awardreconnizes research work published within the last two years.

El Nacional publishes anarticle on Enlace Arquitectura´s work regarding the Cartography of the Caracas Slums presented at the IV Research Conferences of the Venezuelan Studies Section of LASA Latin American Studies Association on November 21,2016. The article highlights the study´s projections of future population growth in slums and the number of people that must berelocated to do eminent geological risk.

The Guangzhou Award for Urban Innovation invited Elisa Silva to participate as member of theTechnical Committee together with 11 other experts from around theworld, to select the 15 finalist cities in Bogotá Colombia duringthe UCLG - United Cities and Local Governments between the12th and 15th of October 2016. The Guangzhou Award´s objective is to disseminate exemplary local government practices with innovative projects to improve inhabitant´s qualityof life and advance efforts to protect the environment.

Elisa Silva announces the 15sh ortlisted cities for the Guanzhou Award for Urban Innovation together wtih Sheila Ochugboju of Kenya and Belinda Yuen from Singapore, at the UCLG Conference in Bogotá the 15th of October 2016.

Elisa Silva participates in theConversation "Visions: popular settlements" this Saturday June 18that 11:00 am at Bigott Foundation - Petare, where she will share theresearch experience of  CABA - Cartografía de los barrios en Caracas 1966 -2014.

The Multi Deco commercial warehouse project is far along in itsconstruction phase. The complex has been designed on a 10.000 m2site in the Marques Alto of the commercial expansion area in Guatire, Miranda State.

Enlace Arquitectura is working withthe community of Las Aguitas in the municipality of Los Guayos, Carabobo State, on public space making urban interventios. The participation of neighbors was very gratifying! Children and adults colaborated in the elaboration of a canopy made from recicladematerial that will create a place with shade where they can playand spend time together.

Tuesday, November 10, Elisa Silvaparticipated in the conversation titled "Social Sinergies" withstudents of the Simon Bolivar University Architecture Students Center, together with Taller Independiente and Wook Fabrication Studio, about participatory design and design actions incommunities throughout the country.

Valentina Caradonna participated in the development of the Ship project, workshop and perfirmancetogether with artist Nancy Nowacek, Backroom Caracas, the Facultyof Architecture at the Central University of Venezuela, the American Embassy, Cultura Chacao, and CCS FORUM 2015. Architects adkjm, Central Arquitectura and Ricardo Sanz were also integral participantes in the initiative which took place between the 2nd and 7th of November 2015.

Enlace Arquitectura received first prize in the Inparques Competition in 3 of the 4 categories for the design of a new mixed control park keeper structure specific to the plains, coast andjungle bioregions. The award event took place on Monday July 27th, 2015 at the Miranda Park.

Elisa Silva was invited by the Faculty of Architecture andUrbanism of the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Perú PUCP to participate in Limapolis, an intense research and design studio, annually organized since 2011 between March 9 and 15 2015.

The editors of Construinfo interview Elisa Silva on thesubject of public space and her experience in the Sabana Grande Boulevard and the plaza interventions in La Morán, an informal settlement on the western side of Caracas.

The exhibition presents research work by Elisa Silva for the Wheelwright Fellowship from the Graduate School of Design Harvard University. It is open to the public between the 8th of Septemberand the 18th of October 2014 at the Eric Arthur Gallery ofthe Daniels Faculty of Architecture at the University of Toronto. The show includes 21 projects in the cities of Lima, Medellin, Guayaquil, Valparaiso, Caracas and Rio de Janeiro. where publicspace is created in informal settlments as part of largerinvestments in major infrastructure, environmental conservation andrisk management projects.

La Caja - Centro Cultural Chacao, Caracas

Between the 14th of September and the 30th of November, theexhibition "Proyecto Helicoide: Fantastic Visions" presents thework of several Venezuelan artists and architects invited to sharetheir statements or projections related to the little understoodmodern architecture legacy called El Helicoide. The piece by Elisa Silva titled "Section: San Agustín - Helicoide - Cota 905" formspart of the exhibition.

Hábitaplus publishes an article about Fundación Espacio, a group of seven architects from diferent universitiesfocused on diseminating the state of art of venezuelan architecturewith a critical perspective.

Vepica Headquarters received a LEED Silver Certification in December 2013. Enlace arquitectura was the LEED consultant for the project. 

Plataforma Arquitectura publishedan article on its webpage about Enlace Arquitectura´s proposal forthe "Public ideas competition to transform the military base La Carlota into a green metropolitan park"  which received Honorable Mention.

The Espacio Foundation presents the publication "Public Spaces in the Barrios of Sucre Municipality" and inaugurates an exhibition at the Centro de Arte Los Galpones de Los Chorros.

Enlace Arquitectura presents its proposal for the "Public Ideas Competition to transform the Air Base into La Carlota Metropolitan Green Park," in a public debate that took place in the Dr. Mauricio Ramia Auditorium of the Botanical Garden of the Central University of Venezuela.
